Small Town Adventure

Thinking of following the hordes of “Adventure Tourists,” “Eco- tourists,” and “green tourists,” or just a plain old “tourists,” to the Mecca that is Costa Rica. Take a step back and think again. Why not travel to a land that has just as much to offer, with a few secrets left to find? Why not travel to a country that is less costly, a lot safer, and a hell of a lot friendlier? Think Panama!

Case in Point- a sleepy little town a skip in from the Pacific Ocean and an easy, you won’t be holding on for dear life to stay in your seat, 4-hour drive from Panama City- Introducing Pedasi. A charming town based around a church and it’s accompanying square. A great place for people watching or getting to know locals. Adventure tourists, bring your surfboard or body board, you have Playa Toro out front with its right point break and beach breaks. You will also be within close proximity to an exciting, may need the 4x4 for this one, day trip to some world class surf breaks around the corner.

Don’t like to surf, bring your fishing pole. Charter boats leave out of Pedasi to the rich Pacific waters, whichever monster fish you’d like to pull in- Tuna, Mahi- Mahi, Marlin, they are biting!

Eco tourists are not forgotten- jump on an inexpensive water taxi and head to Iguana island- Bird watching, snorkeling, or just lounging on the white sand beaches, you won’t be disappointed. Added bonus- if you arrive during Carnival you will only be an hour away from the largest Carnival celebration within The Republic of Panama. Whatever your passion- Pedasi has it.
